Qurbani (also known as Udhiya and sometimes referred to as the Sunnah of Ibrahim) is the important Islamic practice of sacrificing a livestock animal during the festival of Eid ul-Adha. This festival takes place between the 10th and the 12th of the month of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar.
Qurbani serves as an important means to both remember and provide for the most vulnerable in our communities, ensuring they are not left excluded from community-wide celebrations. By sacrificing an animal during the Eid ul-Adha festivities, Qurbani brings the entire Ummah together as the meat is shared and distributed to poor and needy families. By making a Qurbani donation, you are fulfilling a religious obligation and helping to support those most in need.
You can make your Qurbani donation with Muslim Charity from just £19.95.
For the ones who are able, it is encouraged to follow the Sunnah and give the Prophetic Qurbani as well as their own sacrifice. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to sacrifice two animals every year, one on behalf of himself, and the other on behalf of his Ummah.
The extra sacrifice can be given to the needy just as Zakat al-Fitr is given at the end of Ramadan, so that the poorest communities can enjoy a healthy, filling meal with fresh meat on the days of Eid-ul-Adha.
On the authority of Kathir bin Abdullah, it is reported that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, “Whoever revives a Sunnah of mine that dies out after I am gone, he will have a reward equivalent to that of those among the people who act upon it, without that detracting from their reward in the slightest.” (Ibn Majah)
You can make a greater impact with your Qurbani donation this year, by giving in the Prophetic way.

Eid al-Adha 2027 is expected to begin on Sunday 16 May 2027 in the UK subject to moon sighting, although the exact date depends on the sighting of the moon. The sacrifice of Qurbani takes place after the Eid prayer and can be performed during the days of Eid al-Adha.
Qurbani is carried out between the 10th and 13th days of Dhul Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar. During this blessed period, Muslims around the world perform the sacrifice in remembrance of the devotion and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
The cost of Qurbani in 2027 can vary depending on the country where the sacrifice takes place and the type of animal being sacrificed. With Muslim Charity, Qurbani prices start from £19.95, making it easier for more people to fulfil their obligation while helping families in need.
If you are wondering how much does Qurbani cost in 2027, the price usually reflects the local cost of livestock and distribution. Donors can not only contribute towards a goat or sheep (small animal) but also, in many cases, donors contribute one-seventh share of a large animal such as a cow, which is a valid and widely accepted way of performing Qurbani according to Islamic guidelines.
If you are based in the UK, you can easily arrange your Qurbani through Muslim Charity by making a donation online. While the sacrifice itself is carried out in countries where poverty and food insecurity are most severe, UK donors can manage their Qurbani quickly and securely through our website.
Our teams organise Qurbani in regions across Asia, Africa and the Middle East, ensuring that the meat reaches families who rarely have the opportunity to enjoy nutritious food. Your Qurbani helps vulnerable communities celebrate Eid al-Adha with dignity and joy.
Yes, you can give Qurbani online quickly and securely through Muslim Charity. Simply select your preferred Qurbani option, make your donation through our website and our teams will arrange the sacrifice on your behalf during Eid al-Adha.
Once the sacrifice has been completed in accordance with Islamic guidelines, the fresh meat is distributed to families living in poverty. By giving Qurbani online, you can fulfil your religious obligation easily while ensuring vulnerable communities receive the blessings of Eid al-Adha.
Our Qurbani is more affordable in India and Nepal because the cost of animals is lower compared to other countries, and we buy them in large numbers. The lowest-priced option is for a one-seventh share of a large animal. This is a valid way to perform Qurbani according to Islamic guidelines. So even at a lower price, your Qurbani is carried out properly and provides fresh meat to families in need during Eid al-Adha.
The animals eligible for Qurbani include small animals (such as goats and sheep) and large animals (such as cows, buffaloes and camels). A small animal counts as one share, while a large animal can be divided into seven shares. All animals must meet Islamic requirements, including minimum age and good health, to ensure the sacrifice is valid and carried out properly.
Qurbani is performed during Eid al-Adha to honour the sacrifice and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). It is an important act of worship that reflects devotion to Allah, while also helping those in need. The meat is distributed to vulnerable families, allowing them to enjoy a nutritious meal and share in the blessings of Eid.
Qurbani takes place during Eid al-Adha after the Eid prayer and can be performed between the 10th and 12th of Dhul Hijjah. Muslim Charity ensures every sacrifice is carried out according to Islamic guidance and distributed quickly to vulnerable families, allowing them to enjoy the blessings, joy and spirit of Eid al-Adha with dignity and care.
Yes, a Qurbani can be performed on behalf of another person, including family members, children or loved ones who have passed away. Many Muslims also offer Qurbani on behalf of parents or relatives as a meaningful act of charity and remembrance. The intention should be made clearly before arranging the sacrifice through Muslim Charity with care.
Qurbani is obligatory for every sane adult Muslim who possesses wealth above the Nisab threshold during Eid al-Adha. It is an important act of worship that honours the devotion and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) while also helping vulnerable families enjoy fresh meat, nutritious meals and the blessings of Eid with dignity and happiness always.
We know having trust in your chosen charity matters massively, especially when it comes to something as meaningful as Qurbani. At Muslim Charity, we’re transparent, experienced, and deeply committed to doing things right. We make sure your Qurbani is done properly, in line with Islamic principles, and reaches people who need it most. This Eid al-Adha, you can spread joy and smiles with a sense of connectedness and unity.
Qurbani and Aqiqah are different types of sacrifice, though they are both important and sacred. Qurbani is the sacrifice we offer during Eid al-Adha to honour the sacrifice and devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Aqiqah is performed to celebrate the birth of a child, offering thanks to Allah and seeking blessings. In both cases, fresh and nutritious meat is distributed to vulnerable communities, but Qurbani is tied specifically to Eid al-Adha and is a yearly obligation for those who are required to pay Zakat.
We work with trusted farmers and local suppliers to offer healthy, Shariah-compliant animals, including cows, goats, and sheep. The availability and price of animals varies country to country. Our team makes sure the meat is fresh, clean, and handled with care. Most importantly, it’s delivered straight to families so they can enjoy a wholesome, hearty meal this Eid al-Adha.
At Muslim Charity, we work closely with our local teams to find families who are truly struggling this Eid al-Adha. We support people living in poverty, widows, orphans, and those affected by conflict or disaster. Our extensive work to tackle poverty around the world means we already know and understand these communities, and enables our dedicated teams to reach out to those most in need. Meat is a rare luxury for those struggling, and often your Qurbani may be the first time they’ll have eaten meat all year. Your Qurbani means they get to enjoy a proper Eid al-Adha meal, sharing the blessings and joy of this blessed time.
Absolutely! With Muslim Charity, you can choose to perform your Qurbani across different regions, including Asia, Africa and the Middle East. While we don’t allow selection of individual countries, you can still make multiple Qurbani donations across these regions—enabling you to reach more communities in need this Eid al-Adha.
In accordance with Islamic guidance, your Qurbani will be performed during the three days of Eid al-Adha, on the 10th, 11th, and 12th days of Dhul Hijjah. The sacrifice is carried out after Eid salah on the 10th Dhul Hijjah and can be performed up until sunrise on the 12th Dhul Hijjah. It will then be distributed among vulnerable communities as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you donate your Qurbani with Muslim Charity, you’ll be able to see the impact of your generosity through a selection of photos we share on our social media pages from different countries throughout and after the 3 days of Eid.
As long as you make your Qurbani donation in time for us to carry out the sacrifice by the sunset of 12th Dhul Hijjah, we can help. If you can’t arrange it locally while on Hajj, you can very easily arrange it through us. Just make your donation online and we’ll carry it out for you where you specify. We are determined to help you fulfil your obligation and spread the blessings of Eid al-Adha.
