Once your Water Well is completed in approximately 9 to 12 months, you will receive a full completion report with the location and photos of the project.

Building a water well for a community can save lives, keep families healthy and promote health among the most vulnerable. Water well charity is a special kind of water charity as it supports those areas where drought is common and water is extremely difficult to find.

790 million people around the world are forced to drink dirty and contaminated water as they do not have access to clean and safe drinking water. Almost 1 million people a year are dying from water-related diseases and illnesses every year. With 842,000 people dying from diarrhoea alone each year, unsafe water is the single biggest obstacle to the progression and health of communities in the developing world.

When you give water well charity, you’ll be helping entire communities and you will give families direct access to clean and safe water every single day.

The Prophet (saw) said that ‘The best form of charity is to give someone water (to drink).’ (Ibn Majah). A water well is a simple but robust mechanism that can extract water from a greater depth of over 100 feet from the ground. Due their capacity in the volume of water they can extract and their durability, they can support entire communities (consisting of many households) with access to clean water, every single day, any time of the day.

Currently we are supporting the installation of water wells in Pakistan and Bangladesh for £750. In Africa we can support the installation of a water well in communities in Kenya and Somalia for £3,000. In parts of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya and Somalia, ongoing drought and a lack of rainfall has left millions of people continually thirsty. A lack of water also affects the food supply, as crops and vegetation is unable to grow, eventually leaving people with no food to eat.

INTERVENTION

Last year, your generosity made it possible for us to build 87 new water wells across several countries. These wells now supply families with safe and reliable drinking water every day, protecting them from illness and improving their quality of life. Across all the water wells we have installed to date, an estimated 418,479 people benefit from clean water every year.

Once a water well is completed, we provide the donor with a personalised feedback report that includes photos of the well, information about the community benefiting, and its exact location. This ensures transparency and allows donors to see the lasting impact of their contribution.

A single water well can bring ongoing blessings and benefit for generations.

Building a water well is one of the most meaningful acts of Sadaqah Jariyah, offering long-term benefit to entire communities. As people continue to use the water, the donor continues to receive ongoing reward, making it a powerful investment in both this life and the hereafter. A single water well can serve families for many years.

The Holy Qur’an, describes Sadaqah Jariyah as: “The charity of those who expend their wealth in the Way of Allah may be likened to a grain of corn, which produces seven ears and each ear yields a hundred grains.” [2:261] 

Providing water is one of the best examples of this message — saving lives, supporting health and helping build stronger generations.
