Muslim Charity is delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the Digital Innovation of the Year Award at the Third Sector Awards 2026, recognising our innovative work on “Hyper-Personalisation at Scale.”
The national awards celebrate the achievements of charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises across the UK. Being shortlisted is an important recognition of Muslim Charity’s commitment to using technology and innovation to strengthen our humanitarian work and build meaningful relationships with the supporters who make it possible.
This latest recognition is particularly significant as it builds upon a journey of digital innovation that has already earned Muslim Charity two prestigious national awards. From pioneering the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) during Ramadan to developing increasingly sophisticated approaches to donor engagement, Muslim Charity continues to explore how technology can be used responsibly and purposefully in the service of humanity.
Harnessing digital innovation for greater impact
At Muslim Charity, technology is not simply about adopting new tools. It is about finding better ways to serve people, communicate the impact of charitable giving and enable supporters to engage with causes that matter to them.
Our shortlisted initiative, “Hyper-Personalisation at Scale,” reflects this approach. The project focuses on creating more relevant and personalised digital experiences for supporters at scale, helping us communicate with donors in ways that recognise their interests and engagement with our work.
The foundations of this approach were demonstrated during Muslim Charity’s Ramadan 2024 campaign, developed in collaboration with Giving Analytics. The campaign brought together advanced donor segmentation, data insights, behavioural understanding and AI to create personalised communications for supporters during one of the most important periods of charitable giving in the Muslim calendar.
The approach enabled Muslim Charity to tailor communications more effectively rather than relying solely on conventional, one-size-fits-all messaging. The campaign achieved a 311% increase in donations per email open and a 4.1x increase in donations per email compared with traditional marketing approaches.
For a humanitarian organisation responding to needs in communities around the world, effective digital engagement can play an important role in connecting generosity with impact. By strengthening how we understand and communicate with our supporters, we can help nurture lasting relationships built on trust, compassion and shared purpose.
The initiative reflects values at the heart of our work:
- Innovation with purpose, using technology to strengthen our charitable mission
- Supporter-centred communication, making engagement more relevant and meaningful
- Responsible growth, helping our organisation reach and engage more people effectively
- Greater humanitarian impact, ensuring innovation ultimately supports our efforts to help vulnerable communities
