IDPs in Pakistan and Iraq | Monitoring and Relief from Muslim Charity

Muslim Charity is deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation for hundreds of thousands of families in Iraq and Pakistan who have been forced from their homes by the upsurge in violent conflict. In Iraq a surge in violence between armed groups and Government forces has displaced over 1.2 million people in central and northern Iraq since January 2014. Violence has been most intense in Anbar Province, where many have been displaced by fighting centred on Fallujah and Ramadi.

In June, armed groups took control of Iraq’s second city of Mosul, leading to the displacement of over 500,000 people, many of whom fled with few or no resources. Muslim Charity and its partners are carrying out assessments in Anbar and Dahuk for to provide assistance in the form of food and non-food item.

Ahmad and his children left Mosul and are living in a room without windows and doors in Bahirka. There is no work and also no help due to the worsening security situation. Muslim Charity is making all its efforts to reach families like Ahmad’s through your support and donations.

In Pakistan, the current fighting in North Waziristan has triggered a huge exodus of civilians into nearby cities like Bannu Kohat and Peshawar. At least 450,000 persons including thousands of pregnant women, children and elderly are using any means of transport to save their lives.

North Waziristan has a rough and mountainous terrain and borders with Afghanistan. The area is troubled since early 2005 and is causing continuous difficulties for civilians. People are fleeing from the area to save their lives.

Muslim Charity is assessing the situation in Bannu, Kohat and Peshawar and is in coordination with the Government to help the needy families, especially of children and women. Similarly, food and non-food item are required to assist the vulnerable families to save their lives and dignity.
