Helping the Flood affected in Pakistan | Muslim Charity

Heavy monsoon rains and flash floods have killed hundreds of people along with damaging livelihood and vital infrastructure in the Punjab province and other parts of Pakistan. According to the National Disaster Management Authority, in Punjab Province alone 600 villages are affected. Along with hundreds of people who have died at least 4,000 houses have been destroyed leaving thousands of families without any means of shelter. Muslim Charity is monitoring the situation and organising relief items for those who have been affected by the rains and floods.

The families in suburbs of District Sialkot are the worst affected from the recent monsoon flooding. They have not only lost lives but also their houses and livelihoods.

Muslim Charity and its partners on the ground are helping the flood affected through food and non-food item supplies. “We are in coordination with government and other humanitarian authorities and planning a comprehensive response to the crisis according to the immediate need. Muslim Charity and its partner teams are already active on the ground”, explained Muslim Charity’s Director of Programmes, Irfan Rajput. “At the moment, the immediate needs include food and non-food items along with provisions of temporary shelters.”

Flood waters are playing havoc to the lives of people living in riverine areas. Most of these communities cannot afford houses with mortar and bricks and are living in makeshifts.

Muslim Charity requests its donors and supporters to pray for the flood affected families and also to donate towards Muslim Charity’s emergency relief efforts.
