In a heart-warming initiative, Muslim Charity has provided a state-of-the-art hearing testing device for Palestinian infants in Ramallah, located in the West Bank region of Palestine. This advanced device is set to significantly benefit poor Palestinian new born infants, ensuring early detection and intervention for hearing impairments.
Empowering Early Detection and Intervention
The Al Nahda Women Charitable Society, accredited by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, is one of the few specialised centres in the West Bank offering comprehensive audiology and speech pathology services. The newly donated hearing testing device is designed specifically for infants, addressing the unique challenges of testing new-borns who constantly move. This ensures accurate readings and early detection of hearing issues, which is crucial for timely intervention and treatment.
Significant Impact on the Community
According to the Palestinian Bureau of Statistics, there are 92,710 individuals with disabilities in Palestine, with 44,570 residing in the West Bank. Specifically, 19,811 individuals suffer from hearing impairments. The donation of this device is expected to directly benefit around 150 infants each month, totalling up to a potential 1,800 infants annually.
