Victims of communal violence and fear of life in Central African Republic

In Central African Republic (CAR) over half a million are facing fear for their lives, hundreds and thousands of families have fled their homes, and many have witnessed brutal hardships because of on-going ethnic and political violence. Thousands of families have fled in neighbouring countries like Chad and Cameroon without food, shelter, medical aid and clean water. The ones who could not leave are now hiding from vigilante killings mobs in fields or in the bushes. Almost 30% of those displaced are living near the airport in the capital city of Bangui.

Muslim Charity, through local partners and in coordination with other humanitarian partners are monitoring the situation and preparing the emergency response for Central African Republic refugees in Cameroon and Chad. Most of these displaced are Muslim women, children and elderly, while they are safe but are far from the basic life necessities. The most pressing need both inside CAR and on the border is for food and medicine. Muslim Charity urges its donors and supporters to donate as generously as possible to help in saving lives:

• Food and water is urgently required to help in saving the lives of these displaced and vulnerable families in one of the poorest countries of the world. Please donate £50 towards food and water for the victims of violence in CAR.

• Medical supplies are required to treat the sick and injured. Malaria is a particular concern. Please donate £75 towards providing medical assistance to the victim of violence in CAR.

• Tents and plastic sheeting material are in desperate need to protect children and women along with other vulnerable populations. Please donate £100 towards providing protection to helpless families in CAR.
