Neonatal incubators are assisting us in saving the lives of babies born prematurely and low-weight babies in one of the poorest areas of Lahore, Pakis
“Through the blessings of Allah (most high) and with the generous donations of Muslim Charity’s donors, we are able to provide services to babies born prematurely and save their lives along with eradicating the risk of severe disabilities which may arise from the non-availability of incubators”, as explained by the Hospital Administrator, Zubair Shah, of Muslim Charity’s Abdul Latif Tahir hospital in Lahore, Pakistan.
Of the four million babies worldwide who die in the first month of their lives, one million die on their first day. Pre-term birth is attributed, either directly or indirectly, to at least 25 percent of neonatal deaths, and low birth-weight (LBW) new-borns are at the greatest risk. About half of the worldwide total, or 1.8 million babies each year, die due to a lack of consistent heat until they have the body fat and metabolic rate to stay warm.
