The ongoing war in Yemen has brought the country’s health system to the brink of collapse, with more than 24 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, including more than 12 million children.
According to a UNICEF report, one woman and six new-borns die every two hours from complications during pregnancy or childbirth in the country.
Half of the health facilities have either been partially damaged or completely destroyed. Medicines and medical equipment are in short supply. Outbreaks of epidemic and water-borne diseases has already killed hundreds and thousands.
Muslim Charity has been working on the ground for Yemen Emergency Appeal through our partners since 2014, where we are continuing to provide food, water and medical assistance. Only last month, we shipped 25,000 face masks and 10,000 full-face protective shields to Yemen to support key medical staff and health professionals working in Yemen’s hospitals.
