New infant incubator delivered to Aden General Hospital, Yemen

On 30th September 2020, Muslim Charity delivered an infant incubator to the Aden General Hospital in Aden, Yemen.

The neonatal unit in the Aden General Hospital is facing huge shortages of medical supplies and trained staff which results in 3 to 4 infants being refused treatment each day at the hospital. Thanks to the support of our donors, Muslim Charity has been able to procure and deliver an infant incubator to the neonatal unit whereby the hospital management is now hopeful that they will be able to save many lives as a result.

The ongoing war in Yemen has brought the country’s health system to the brink of collapse, with more than 24 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, including more than 12 million children.

According to a UNICEF report, one woman and six new-borns die every two hours from complications during pregnancy or childbirth in the country.

Half of the health facilities have either been partially damaged or completely destroyed. Medicines and medical equipment are in short supply. Outbreaks of epidemic and water-borne diseases has already killed hundreds and thousands.

Muslim Charity has been working on the ground for Yemen Emergency Appeal through our partners since 2014, where we are continuing to provide food, water and medical assistance. Only last month, we shipped 25,000 face masks and 10,000 full-face protective shields to Yemen to support key medical staff and health professionals working in Yemen’s hospitals.

As part of our Honouring Our Mothers campaign, this is the second infant incubator we have delivered in war-torn Yemen, having previously provided one to the Al-Wahda Teaching Hospital in Aden, Yemen. Since 2013, Muslim Charity has delivered 138 infant incubators to hospitals where there is a dire need in countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Yemen, Lebanon, Somalia, Kenya and these are saving countless lives on a daily basis.

One infant incubator is an excellent Sadaqah Jariyah (donation resulting in continuing rewards) and only costs £2,500 or you can contribute towards a share for £500 by visiting our infant incubators’ page here.
