Muslim Charity has established and runs five maternity hospitals in Pakistan and also supports hospitals in Bangladesh, India and Somalia. Pakistan has the fifth highest number of maternal deaths in the world; it is also one of the most dangerous places for a child to be born. Over 14,000 mothers and 300,000 babies die every year within the first month of being born in Pakistan.
Junaid Jamshed, Vice President of Muslim Charity, commented “I remember reading somewhere that a woman travelling from Jhang to Faisalabad on a tonga (horse-cart) in full-term labour died because no maternal health facility was close by. That story shook me”.
The series of charity dinners will start on 13th December in Bolton and thereafter visit Cardiff, Luton, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and finish in Newcastle on 28th December 2013. The dinners are set to be inspiring evenings with a 3 course dinner provided.
There will be an intimate “Question and Answer” session with Junaid Jamshed and an exclusive CD-signing session of his latest album Noor-ul Huda. Amjad Hussain, the former folk-singer with internationally acclaimed super hits such as “Tera Pakistan Hai… Yeh Mera Pakistan”, will also be part of the UK-wide tour and will perform Hamds and Nasheeds. The distinguished television presenter and humanitarian worker, Rizwan Hussain from Islam Channel, will be the host of the tour.
An Official Tour website has been set up for further information and ticket bookings which can be found at: www.HonouringOurMothers.com
