Whilst launching the project, Shah Lalon Amin (Director of Delhi-6 restaurant) commented, “We are part of this community. The elderly people are our elderly folk. Putting business aside, it is important to stand with each other during this testing time. We are delighted to be partnering with Muslim Charity to deliver free meals every single day to the most vulnerable in our society.”

The local MP for South Shields, Emma Lewell-Buck, has been volunteering her time supporting the project to do deliveries and explained, “In communities around the UK at the moment there is a lot of elderly people who are really struggling get food and here at Delhi- 6 partnering up with Muslim Charity we are making sure that those elderly people in South Shields are getting food. And I am out tonight helping to deliver some delicious curry to them.”
