“It may present itself in different ages from birth to adolescence. Most cases are asymptomatic and discovered during routine neonatal check ups. It places a significant economic burden and psychological impact on the affected families and treatment is costly. Most parents cannot afford the treatment for their loved ones,” explained Irfan Rajput, Director of Programmes and Policy at Muslim Charity.
The CHD treatment and surgical interventions have been arranged in the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh. “We have children coming from all over Bangladesh and with our combined resources together with the CMH team we can only handle the limited numbers” reported Fazlul Karim, Muslim Charity Coordinator Bangladesh.
