COMMUNITY IFTAR FOR SYRIAN REFUGEES IN LEBANON

On 19 May 2019, a community Iftar was arranged for Syrian refugees living in Lebanon. The community Iftar was arranged in three locations: Arsal camp, Ketermaya camp and Dalhoun.

The Iftar menu was set based on local preferences and included a choice between meat rice and meat curry with bread along with dates, juice, water, fruits, salad and savoury snacks. Furthermore, for children a special child meal was served which included chicken nuggets, fries, bread, water and soft drinks.

This was all thanks to our UK donors who have always supported Muslim Charity in providing Iftar meals and food packs to needy families around the world during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Commenting on the occasion, a resident of Arsal camp, Mr Mohammad Yehya, said, “We were well-off in Syria before the war however this war has changed everything, now we are in a destitute situation, though our life is secure but without means of earning how can we support our families and provide a decent living for them? It is hard to see our children in this situation, however I am happy to see our brothers and sisters around the world are still supporting us and they are still thinking about us. I am personally thankful to Muslim Charity and its donors.”

More than one million Syrian refugees have migrated to Lebanon since the Syria war started back in 2011.

The country which was already hosting about 280,000 Palestinian refugees cannot endure the burden of such a massive influx and as a result Syrian refugees are restricted to access to work, education, and healthcare. Moreover, approximately 200,000 school-aged Syrian children were out of school during the 2016-2017 school year, largely due to the inability of parents to pay for transport and shows the vulnerability and dependency that Syrian refugees in the country have on humanitarian assistance.

Muslim Charity’s community Iftar is a continuation of our humanitarian relief for Syrian families in Lebanon since 2013.Your donation of £50 towards one food pack enables a refugee family to get a breath of fresh air as they know that they will be able to eat comfortably for 30 days.
