Care with compassion: Muslim Charity distributes food and Iftar to street children of Dhaka

In Bangladesh, Muslim Charity organised the Iftar project and food distributions to the street children of Dhaka. At this occasion, Muslim Charity representative, Fazlul Karim said; “It is important for me to share the joy of good food during this blessed month of Ramadan with these innocent souls. I am following the Sunnah of Allah’s (most high) Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was particularly compassionate towards children. When he saw a child crying, he sat beside him or her and shared his or her feelings. He felt the pain of a mother for her child more than the mother herself. Once he said: “I stand in prayer and wish to prolong it. However, I hear the cry of a child and cut the prayer short for the anxiety which the mother is feeling.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Muslim Charity believes that education is one of the primary tools to break the vicious circle of child poverty. The inclusion of orphan and vulnerable children is not only a matter of social justice and the realisation of the rights of children and their wellbeing but also vital for the future of a peaceful society.

The School under the Sky project in Dhaka is not only providing basic education opportunities to the street children in Dhaka but medical facilities and food provisions as well. With your support and our local partner, Local Education and Economic Development Organization (LEEDO), we are intending to extend the services to many other areas of Dhaka along with the construction of a shelter home. Our goals are to ensure that orphans and street children that we support are as well fed and clothed as their contemporaries and they are able to take advantage of the same educational and healthcare opportunities as other children in more fortunate circumstances.

Muslim Charity intends to extend the School under the Sky project during the year 2013 to protect, educate and provide medical services to the 360,000 street children of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

It is not just about providing food but rather sharing with the old, fragile, poor and vulnerable people. Indeed, Local Education and Economic Development Organization (LEEDO) shares the same essence of assisting humanity in distress and difficult times.

The Pre-Ramadan food distribution in Dhaka is a part of Muslim Charity’s aim of providing food for one million people this Ramadan.
