Muslim Charity shares the 60 miles bike ride for Ambitious brothers

So the stage was set for the latest cycling challenge by the #TeamMC Cycling Club… It was a cold and wet morning in London and there was no sun in sight. The miserable conditions did not deter around 50 brothers who had come together at Altab Ali Park to start the long 60-mile journey to Brighton.

 

The ride took place on Saturday 4th November 2017 and most of the brothers were completely new to cycling and had at most a few weeks of training before the ride. Alhamdulillah, there was a great display of brotherhood and companionship throughout the long and tiring journey as brothers were motivating each other and sharing food and energy gels and chocolates.

There were numerous merciless and unforgiving hills along the route culminating with the infamous Ditchling Beacon near the end of the ride just before Brighton. The climb was 1.5 km long and an elevation of 468 feet on a 9% average gradient! For those interested, you can check out the Strava stats for it here: www.strava.com/segments/6691384

 

What powered all the brothers through to the end was the cause. Alhamdulillah, the cyclists together raised more than £52,000 for the Muslim Charity’s #LoveRohingya campaign. Some of the brothers participating recently returned back from Bangladesh where they witnessed and participated in the humanitarian relief efforts being implemented by Muslim Charity on the ground.

Muslim Charity has been distributing food, water, establishing shelters and running medical camps for the incoming Rohingya refugees since the hostilities began in 25th August 2017. Prior to this Muslim Charity has been working with the Rohingya in Arakan, Burma, since 2012.
