Every single day, 25,000 people, including 10,000 children are dying from a lack of food. Over the last few years, food scarcity has worsened and reached levels we have never witnessed before. Millions are starving due to famine in places like Yemen, Afghanistan and Somalia, as prolonged periods of drought have drastically impacted the growth of crops and food production. We are also witnessing the worst levels of inflation, increased cost of food and living and unemployment, worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic, leaving devastating footprints around the world.
It is incredibly important that we come together to feed the hungry, and to tackle hunger. It is estimated that 790 million people do not have enough food to eat. These statistics are shocking, and we really need to come together to provide ease and to save lives. Providing food and helping communities with food production is a way that we can save lives, protect communities, and help tackle long-term hunger.
Feed the hungry now.
In impoverished countries including Bangladesh, Somalia and Pakistan, deep-rooted poverty affecting large proportions of the population means that millions are food insecure, unsure where their next meal is coming from. Many of the country’s poorer people engage in daily wage labour which offers no security and was drastically impacted by Covid-19 and lockdowns as they were unable to work. Millions were facing their most darkest days in the face of hunger and starvation, making impossible decisions about whether to eat, be clothed, or be clean. Now, as the world is slowly emerging from the pandemic, many communities are facing huge rises in the cost of food and living, with many businesses also having closed and so unemployment also rising.
Millions are living without food, and this Ramadan will struggle to find food to eat for iftar and suhoor. Join us to feed the hungry.
Muslim Charity is helping thousands of the world’s poorest families across developing countries with much needed food. Your Zakat donations have been able to help people across Pakistan, Lebanon, Yemen, Rohingya and Bangladesh enjoy nutritious and much-needed meals.
Last year alone we were able to support nearly 22,000 people in need with healthy, nutritious food. This year, we need to do more. Millions are facing their worst struggles in accessing food, and we must come together to feed the hungry before it is too late.
As well as providing food parcels for vulnerable families, we also distribute hot, cooked meals to those in need including daily wage labourers and the homeless community.
We believe that all change should be long-term and help those in need for the better. We build projects around livelihood and income generation so that families are able to afford better food every day. By focusing on increasing income and livelihood, we help ensure people are able to make the right choices about their own lives. We build programmes that are empowering, enabling people to be independent, and play an active role in improving their lives and supporting their families.
Feed the hungry today with your Zakat, Sadaqah and Lillah and help make a world of difference to those most in need.
