The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: “Feed the hungry, visit the sick and set free the captives.” – Sahih Al-Bukhari
“(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: ‘We feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.'” – The Holy Quran, 76:8-9
Over 820 million people do not have enough food to eat. Every single day, they suffer the awful effects of hunger, and 25,000 of these poor and vulnerable people lose their lives.
With millions of starving and malnourished people in the world at risk of dying from a lack of food, Muslim Charity’s Food Appeal strives to deliver vital, nutritious and life-saving food to vulnerable communities living in unimaginable poverty. Our food parcels are filled with nutritious items that will keep a family healthy and nourished for a month.

99% of the world’s malnourished people are living in developing, low-income countries. They often do not know where their next meal is coming from. Children are forced to go to bed hungry, often do not have breakfast before school, and are unsure if there will be food at home in the evening. This hunger has long-term impact on children especially, who find it difficult to focus at school and their lack of performance holds them back in life.
Malnutrition – a continual lack of food and vital vitamins and minerals – can lead to stunted growth, sight problems, diabetes, heart disease and other serious health issues. It is one of the world’s biggest killers. Nearly 50% of deaths in children below the age of five are due to the effects of malnutrition. Malnutrition also impacts pregnant women and the birth of babies. Malnourished pregnant women are unable to carry their babies full term, and this results in premature births and serious complications during childbirth. As a result, unfortunately many babies do not survive.

At Muslim Charity, our Food Appeal has been able to help hundreds of the poorest families across developing countries with much needed food packages. Your Zakat donations have been able to help people across Pakistan, Lebanon, Yemen, Rohingya and Bangladesh enjoy nutritious and much-needed meals.
Last year alone we were able to support nearly 22,000 beneficiaries but with your help we will be able to reach even more people who need it the most.
Alongside providing food baskets for vulnerable families, we also provide cooked meals to those in need including daily wage labourers and the homeless community.
