Help a mother during her pregnancy with essential medicines and vitamins
Across the globe, preterm birth complications are the leading cause of mortality in children under five years old. It is estimated that over 15 million babies are born before 37 weeks of gestation and of those, up to one million die. Shockingly, 75% of those deaths could be prevented by cost-effective interventions.
Unfortunately, the rate of premature births is rising and in low-income countries over half of those babies born two months early die simply from lack of access to essential healthcare.
In contrast, in high-income countries nearly every baby survives.
In many countries, hospitals do not have the relevant trained doctors or equipment such as incubators. Those that did are forced to share a single incubator amongst three or four premature babies. An incubator is a vital tool in helping preterm babies survive by providing them with a warm and safe environment with in which they can healthy grow.
Since 2013, we have worked with hospitals across Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Lebanon, Kenya, Uganda and Yemen by delivering more than 160 neonatal incubators to those areas that needed them most, helping to save the lives of over 40,000 premature babies.
We firmly believe that a child’s future should not be decided on the cost of healthcare and with your help we can provide even more hospitals with much needed incubators.
For just £208 a month, or a donation of £2,500, will enable us to purchase and deliver an incubator to hospitals; helping to save thousands of lives.
Last year, we were able to successfully install 14 incubators in needy hospitals (11 in Pakistan and 3 in Uganda). Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help us reach our goal and prevent the heartbreak young mothers are currently experiencing.
