Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club wins 8 medals
Muslim Charity’s Volunteer Family (TEAMMC) is known for its daring and adventurous activities. They put the ‘fun’ in fundraising and do all they can to help needy families and communities around the world.
TEAMMC has already made inroads in cycling challenges (both within the UK and overseas) as well as running (taking on UK-based and international marathons) and now we are pleased to share the fruits of the perseverance and efforts of our TEAMMC Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Club based at our Whitechapel Community Hub in London.
On 11th-12th September 2021, the members of our TEAMMC BJJ Club took part in the All Stars Europeans Tournament at the University of East London. This was the first competition the club participated in following months of training and all the sweat and sparring paid off.
All in all, our team won 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 3 bronze medals and an Absolute Belt. The competitions were fought under the supervision of Bradley Hill (our inspiring BJJ coach and IBJJF European Champion / World Champion Medalist).
Our ‘Roll of Honour’ in both the GI and No GI Adults/ Masters Division included:
Abu Ubaida – 1 Gold & 1 Silver
Abdul Hannan – 1 Gold and 1 Bronze
Abdul Hakim – Gold
Azharul – Bronze
Shah Ideal – Bronze
Shah Minaj – Gold and Absolute Heavyweight Champ – Open Class
